Mizoram villagers build safe nesting site for rare state bird

Villagers and NGOs in Mizoram have created a new nesting site for the rare and vulnerable Mrs Hume’s Pheasant, the state bird, in Farkawn village. The community-led effort aims to protect the bird from habitat loss and hunting. Listed as 'Vulnerable' by the IUCN, the species’ survival depends on grassroots conservation initiatives and increased awareness.
