Mizoram warns drug dealers over codeine syrup abuse

Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii warned that drug licences of law-violating dealers will be cancelled amid rising pharmaceutical drug abuse. An inter-ministerial meeting identified codeine syrup as the most abused drug, sold illegally without prescriptions. Abuse has spread to children and remote areas, with cases of relabelled bottles also reported.
