Mobile phone users to get cheaper voice, SMS-only plans under new TRAI rules

TRAI has issued new regulations mandating telecom operators to introduce affordable, short-duration voice and SMS-only recharge plans. Operators will have to offer standalone voice and SMS plans, with an appropriate reduction in tariff, for 30 days or less. They will also have to offer a plan with validity that can be renewed on the same date every month.
