Moises Caicedo named Ecuador captain days before FIFA WC knockouts

Midfielder Moises Caicedo has been named Ecuador captain just days ahead of their FIFA World Cup 2026 knockout match against hosts Mexico. This comes after former skipper Enner Valencia passed the armband on to the midfielder following Ecuador's successful progression to the Round of 32. Ecuador are set to play their first World Cup knockout game in 20 years.
