More states must follow 4-5 manufacturing leaders to lift India: Singapore prez

Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam commented on India's growth potential, saying that 4-5 states in the country are growing in export manufacturing, adding, "If the other states do the same, India will be lifted up despite its late start." The remark comes as five states, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh account for nearly 70% of India's total exports.
