More than the meteorite impact, climate change induced by extensive volcanic eruptions potentially contributed to dinosaur extinction around 65 million years ago, new research has suggested. The study, published in Science Advances, focuses on the Deccan Traps in India, formed by lava from massive volcanic events. Volcanic sulphur could have caused repeated drops in temperature, the study stated.
