Mosquitoes can learn to love insect repellent: Study
A study by France's University of Tours found mosquitoes can learn to love DEET, a widely used insect repellent, associating it with food and even preferring to bite people sprayed with it. Using Pavlovian conditioning, researchers trained yellow fever mosquitoes to see DEET as feeding signal. Around 60% of conditioned mosquitoes attempted to bite when exposed to DEET alone.
