Most powerful 'space laser' detected as galaxies collide

Scientists detected the most distant and powerful cosmic signal, nicknamed a "space laser", technically a hydroxyl megamaser. It originated from colliding galaxies about 8 billion light-years away, offering rare insights into the early universe. Cosmic conditions and gravitational lensing naturally amplified the faint signal. It was observed using the MeerKAT radio telescope in South Africa.
