Mother sues Instagram over 11-yr-old girl's suicide in US, cites 'extreme addiction'
The mother of an 11-year-old girl, who died by suicide, has sued Instagram parent Meta and Snapchat parent Snap, claiming that her daughter struggled for two years with 'extreme addiction' to the apps. The US lawsuit alleged product defect, negligence and violations of California's consumer protection law. Earlier, Meta's internal research revealed it knew Instagram was 'toxic' for teenage girls.
