MP becomes third state to allow desilting of sand from dams

The Madhya Pradesh government allowed desilting and excavation of sand from four dams in the state to increase their capacity, said an official on Tuesday. After Kerala and Maharashtra, MP is the third state to start desilting of dams in India. State Home Minister Narottam Mishra said, "This process will increase the irrigation capacity by 5,00,000 hectares of land."
