Mpox vaccine cleared by Chinese drug regulator, to undergo trial

China’s top drug regulator has cleared an mpox vaccine developed by local drug firm Sinopharm for clinical trials. The World Health Organisation said on August 14 that the mpox outbreak in Africa constitutes a public health emergency of international concern. Several countries including India, Pakistan, Sweden and countries in Africa recently reported cases due to the outbreak.
