Mullaperiyar dam water levels surge; excess water to be released

The Mullaperiyar dam’s water level rose to 138.10 ft on Monday, 18 December, prompting authorities to decide on releasing excess water through the spillway starting Tuesday, officials said in Idduki, Kerala. The Idukki District Disaster Management Authority, chaired by Collector Sheeba George, held a review in response to rising water levels caused by unexpected rains in the catchment area.
