Mumbai alone pays 35% of India's income tax: BMC Commissioner

Defending mega investments in the city, BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide said on a podcast that Mumbai contributes about 35% of India's income tax. Letting it decay to build a new city elsewhere won't work, as its ecosystem and DNA took centuries to develop. "This city is so valuable that investing in it is investing in the future," she asserted.
