Mumbai petrol pumps may stop UPI payments from Oct 15 over MDR: Report

Petrol pumps across Mumbai may discontinue UPI payments from October 15 if the government does not exempt fuel retailers from revised merchant discount rates (MDR) on UPI transactions above ₹2,000, IE reported. The Petrol Dealers Association of Mumbai claimed its outlets have achieved over 60% digitalisation in sales transactions. It has written to RBI and government, seeking a complete waiver.
