Mumbai records first black fungus case in 2022 amid surge in Omicron cases

Mumbai has reported its first case of Mucormycosis or 'black fungus' this year amid a surge in Omicron cases. The 70-year-old man had tested positive on January 5 and was hospitalised on January 12 after complaining of weakness. He is said to be stable and is undergoing treatment. Mucormycosis was declared as a 'notifiable disease' during the COVID-19 second wave.
