Mumbai restaurants may hike prices by 10-15% as hygiene expenses rise amid FDA scrutiny
Mumbai-based Indian Hotel and Restaurant Association (AHAR), representing over 25,000 restaurants and bars, is planning to increase menu prices by 10-15% from next week. It cited rising raw-material and cooking-gas costs, rents, labour and transport expenses, alongside increased spending on hygiene and cleanliness amid FDA scrutiny. Individual establishments will decide their own price revisions.
