Mumbai taxi driver stages own kidnapping and demands ransom, held

Mumbai Police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old taxi driver for allegedly staging his own kidnapping with the help of a friend. Police said that he posed as the kidnapper and demanded ransom from his family. "[He] assumed his family would pay...He did not think they would go to the police," an officer said.
