Mumbai will get up to 400 million litres of freshwater daily from a new desalination plant expected to be completed by 2029. The ₹4,007-crore project will be built on 12 acres, with the first phase having a capacity of 200 million litres/day. The facility aims to address Mumbai's water shortage caused by inadequate rainfall and dependence on reservoirs.
