Mumbai's 50% people live in slums, govt must redevelop those: Hiranandani

Billionaire businessman Niranjan Hiranandani said any party trying to win next Maharashtra state elections has to hugely commit to redevelopment of slums. "That will rule the roost [in] Mumbai [where] 50% of population lives in slums," he said. "The first project in Dharavi has started, but only 5% of slum redevelopment promised 15-20 years ago has been completed," he added.
