WB govt acted as mute spectator: NCW report on Murshidabad violence

In a report on the violence in West Bengal's Murshidabad, the National Commission for Women (NCW) said the CM Mamata Banerjee-led TMC government acted as "a mute spectator". "Despite prior intelligence...the state government failed to take preventive action," it said. NCW alleged that state officials were non-cooperative during inquiry. The violence broke out during protest against the Waqf Act.
