Musician moves SC against order to sing 6 stanzas of Vande Mataram

Carnatic musician TM Krishna has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Union government's directions that mandate singing of six stanzas of the national song Vande Mataram. The court on Tuesday sought Centre's response on the plea. The plea opposes the penal consequences for not singing six stanzas, which the court said could be examined in the context of fundamental rights.
