OpenAI, in a blog post countering Elon Musk's conspiracy claims, said the billionaire always intended to merge OpenAI into Tesla. In early 2017, Musk asked us to send a team to fix Tesla's self-driving programme, Autopilot, OpenAI said. Prominent OpenAI researchers, including Andrej Karpathy and Ilya Sutskever, ended up devoting significant time to improving Autopilot, the ChatGPT-maker added.
