Muslim-majority Tajikistan bans women from wearing hijab

The Tajikistan government has banned women from wearing hijab and has introduced a legislation asking them to "stick to traditional national clothes and culture". Adding that "everyone" looked at women wearing hijabs "with concern", Minister of Culture Shamsiddin Orumbekzoda said that the Islamic dress was "really dangerous". Notably, 98% of Tajikistan's population is Muslim.
