MV Govindan Master elected as new CPI(M) Kerala secretary

After Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stepped down as the CPI(M) state chief, citing health reasons, senior party leader and Local Self-government Minister MV Govindan Master was elected as his replacement. Master was selected as the party secretary at the party state committee meeting in Thiruvananthapuram. Govindan may have to step down as a cabinet minister to take up the party post.
