Mystery of 'mermaid mummy' found hundreds of years ago solved in Japan

Japanese researchers said they've solved the mystery of the mummified 'monkey-mermaid', which has been kept at a temple since its discovery hundreds of years ago. It was "probably man-made", created using paper, cloth and cotton. Its lower body has fish bones, its jaw and teeth are from a carnivorous fish, and its upper body is covered with puffer fish skin.
