Nabi's friend once convinced his father to let him attend BCCI camp

Auqib Nabi, who earned his maiden India call-up for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, once got the chance to attend a BCCI pace bowling camp under Glenn McGrath. However, his father, a school teacher, wanted him to focus on his studies and initially refused to let him go. "I had to convince him," Nabi's friend Zubair Dar recalled.
