Naphthalene balls pose health risks in Indian homes
Naphthalene balls release toxic fumes that can be harmful when inhaled or swallowed. Prolonged exposure may damage the liver and kidneys, cause haemolytic anaemia and worsen breathing problems. Swallowing even one ball can be dangerous for children, while people with G6PD deficiency face higher risks. Neem leaves, cloves, cinnamon and lavender can offer alternatives.
