Nara Mukha Vinayakar: Tamil Nadu’s unique human-form Ganesha

Tamil Nadu’s ancient Adhi Vinayagar Temple is home to a rare Ganesha idol believed to date back to the seventh century. Known as Nara Mukha Vinayakar, the sacred deity is depicted in his original human form before receiving the sacred elephant head and is adorned with a distinctive serpent ornament.
