NASA debunks viral 2001 pic of 'square shape' on Mars

NASA said the picture showing a square shape on Mars, taken in 2001, that went viral recently is not proof of lost civilisations but natural rock formations. It added that it's an optical illusion caused by light and shadows on the Martian surface. The effect is due to pareidolia, where the brain sees familiar patterns in random landscapes, experts explained.
