NASA developing powerful AI chip for future deep space missions

NASA is developing a radiation-hardened AI chip under its High Performance Spaceflight Computing project to replace slower space processors used in deep space missions. The system-on-a-chip aims to deliver up to 100 times more computing power, enabling spacecraft autonomy, real-time AI decisions, and faster data analysis. It is being tested to survive extreme radiation and temperature conditions.
