NASA finds ‘bathtub ring’ on Mars hinting at ancient ocean

Scientists have identified a Martian feature resembling Earth’s continental shelf, described as a massive “bathtub ring” indicating presence of an ancient ocean. The NASA research used data after orbiting Mars for a decade, suggesting coastal shelf could have formed due to rivers dumping sand into an ocean. The shelf formation could also be due to rising and falling sea level.
