NASA identifies frozen water in young star system for the 1st time

For the first time, researchers confirmed the presence of crystalline water ice in a dusty debris disk that orbits a Sun-like star, using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope. All the frozen water it detected is paired with fine dust particles throughout the disk. In 2008, retired Spitzer Space Telescope's data hinted at the possibility of frozen water in this system.
