NASA shares pic of 'heart-shaped' pink lake in Argentina

A satellite image has revealed a heart-shaped pink salt lake, Salinas Las Barrancas, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its vibrant colour comes from salt-loving microbes such as Dunaliella salina, which produce pigments as water evaporates. Rain and sunlight continuously alter the lake's hue and shape. NASA released the photo after it was taken by an astronaut aboard the International Space Station.
