NASA's Mars Rover deposits first sample on the planet's surface, pic released

NASA's Perseverance Mars Rover on Wednesday deposited the first sample that it collected from Mars onto the surface of the red planet. The sample is within a titanium tube and depositing it is the first step towards building humanity's maiden sample depot on another planet, NASA said. The depot will serve as a backup if Perseverance can't deliver its samples.
