Indian Navy launched 'Operation Trident' during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 on December 4. This was one of the largest naval conflicts since World War II. To commemorate this, December 4 is celebrated as Indian Navy Day. Anti-ship missiles in combat were used by the Navy for the second time in the world and the first time in India.
