Navy officer, who entered burning LPG tanker to find missing crew, awarded Shaurya Chakra
Lieutenant Commander Shivam Kumar, who repeatedly entered a burning LPG-filled tanker in the Gulf of Aden to find missing crew, has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra for exceptional gallantry. He was on board INS Trikand when the Indian warship was directed to assist a Cameroon-flagged tanker. It had suffered an explosion while transiting through the Houthi attack zone in 2025.
