Neeraj Chopra qualifies for javelin throw final at Olympics with 86.65-metre throw

India's 23-year-old javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has qualified for the men's javelin throw final at the Tokyo Olympics. He advanced to the final after breaching the automatic qualification mark of 83.50 metres. Neeraj hurled the javelin to a distance of 86.65 metres in his first attempt in the Group A qualification round. He opted not to go for subsequent attempts.
