Neil Armstrong’s spacesuit was made by a bra manufacturer
The spacesuit worn by astronaut Neil Armstrong when he became the first man on the moon in 1969, was manufactured by seamstresses who usually worked on bras and girdles. The spacesuit, which comprised 21 layers of different materials, was hand sewn by women from consumer brand Playtex. The suit was developed to be able to withstand temperatures of over 500°C.
