Netflix was created over late fee for movie rental

Entertainment company Netflix's Co-founder Reed Hastings was inspired to create the company after he was charged a late fee of $40 over the rental of the movie 'Apollo 13'. The company was founded on August 29, 1997, and started by renting DVDs by mail for a flat subscription fees. Netflix now specialises in streaming media and video on demand online.
