The Netherlands has announced to officially drop the nickname 'Holland' as part of a rebranding campaign. Companies, embassies, ministries and universities will only be able to refer to the country as 'the Netherlands' from January. 'Holland' refers to just two of the 12 provinces in the Netherlands, but the two names are often used interchangeably to describe the European country.
