Never-before-seen particle found in blood of septic patients: Study
La Jolla Institute for Immunology researchers have discovered that people with sepsis have "never-before-seen" particles called 'ENDS' in their blood. They showed that these particles break off of immune cells and change their shape as they course through the body. Compared with healthy subjects, the researchers showed that ENDS are around 100-fold more detectable in septic patients.
