New 'Phawngpui' frog species discovered in Mizoram

Researchers in Mizoram discovered a new frog species which is yellowish brown in colour and measures up to 56 mm in length. The species was named 'Phawngpui' after Mizoram's highest mountain peak. "The discovery...reinforces the view that amphibian fauna of Mizoram and northeastern India remains incompletely documented despite high biogeographic significance," a study revealing the discovery said.
