New COVID-19 variants will continue to emerge: China's 'bat woman'
Dr Shi Zhengli, China's Wuhan Institute of Virology's scientist who's also known as 'bat woman', has said new variants of coronavirus would continue to occur as an increasing number of infections provide more opportunities for the virus to mutate. "We shouldn't panic, but we need to prepare to co-exist with the virus in the long term," she added.
