New fish species discovered off the coast of Kerala

Scientists at ICAR-CMFRI have identified a new fish species, Cyttopsis indica (the Indian dory). Discovered between 350 and 500 meters deep in the eastern Lakshadweep Sea, this rosy-to-silvery pink fish highlights the rich, unexplored life lurking in India's twilight zones. DNA testing revealed a 4.6% to 11% genetic variation from its closest Atlantic and Pacific dory relatives.
