New labour codes may come into effect from April 1: Report

Government is considering making four labour codes effective from April 1, the Economic Times reported citing sources. The Labour Ministry aims for the rollout to coincide with Indian companies' financial cycle, as the change in salary structure under the codes could impact their balance sheets. Besides, the ministry is also considering reducing the mandatory 90-day work threshold for gig workers.
