New lizard species discovered on Car Nicobar Island

A new lizard species, Coryphophylax krishnani, was discovered on Car Nicobar Island by SR Chandramouli. Small but distinct, males have dark yellow dewlap with black spots, and hexagonal tail scales. Genetic and physical studies confirmed it’s unique. Named after Dr Shreyas Krishnan, who pioneered genetic research and mentored Chandramouli, this discovery highlights island’s hidden biodiversity.
