New species of 240-mn-yr-old prehistoric animal from Tanzania found
A new prehistoric animal species from Tanzania, dating back around 240 million years to the Triassic period, has been described by University of Bristol researchers. Named Dinodontosaurus isiyavamanda, it was identified from fossils collected during a 1963 British expedition to Tanzania. The discovery was unexpected, as the genus Dinodontosaurus had previously been known only from South America.
