Israeli cyber companies developed technology that exploits the online advertising system to hack into people's smartphones and computers, an investigation by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed. The spyware turns some targeted ads into Trojan horses. "This terrifying capability, against which no defence currently exists, has already been sold to a nondemocratic country," the report said.
