New star ratings to push AC prices up 10%, fridge by 5% from Jan 1

Bureau of Energy Efficiency rolled out mandatory star labeling for multiple appliances, including refrigerators, televisions, and LPG stoves, from January 1. Industry experts believe the move will lead to rise in the price of cooling appliances such as room air conditioners and refrigerators by up to 5-10%. After January 1, a 5-star of 2025 rating will be downgraded to 4-star.
