New supercontinent 'Amasia' will be created as Pacific ocean shrinks: Study
As per researchers, a new supercontinent will be created as the Pacific ocean is slowly closing up. It's shrinking by around one inch a year, due to which the tectonic plates on which the Americas rest are getting pushed westwards, they said. After 200-300 million years, the landmasses of Americas and Asia might collide to create a new supercontinent, Amasia.
